![]() All Spector wanted was Larson's belt and a plastic bag, so he could hang himself in the most pleasurable way possible.Īnd that, in a brutal homage to poor dead Susan Harper, was that. Then Spector beat up Dr Larson (Krister Henriksson) – but not in an attempt to escape. That fanfare heralded an episode gratifyingly full of violence: assistant chief constable Burns (John Lynch) drunkenly lashed out at Spector – while Spector went on to choreograph a full-scale psych-ward riot, led by the not-homosexual-at-all Bailey (Conor MacNeill). Whatever miracle substance they've been spraying on Gillian Anderson's hair, they need to adapt it for frying pans, and no egg will ever stick again.) As the police interview ended, Spector physically attacked both Gibson and her sidekick DS Anderson (Colin Morgan), with the crack of bones and the spurt of blood. (Even as she lay bloodied on the floor, though, Gibson's hairdo remained pristine – she was gorily gashed at the eyebrow, but still not a drop of blood managed to cling to her hair. Susan Harper's decade-old death, from auto-erotic asphyxiation, might well see Spector sent to prison for life – even if none of his other heinous crimes could be tried due to his "memory loss".Īt that point, the calculating Spector decided to go out with a bang. In the finale, the police interview resumed after that break, with Spector both apparently honest and apparently cornered. ![]() It wasn't looking good, as Spector consulted his lawyers at the end of the episode. Those fans were rewarded, in last night's penultimate episode, with a twisty plot twist: Spector was suddenly on the hook for a 2002 murder, four years before the start of his supposed amnesia. Regardless of how slow and turgid the plot has been, it seems that Gibson and Spector still have a truly loyal fan base in the UK. Every episode has scored over 3 million viewers – and episode 4, the most recent episode for which consolidated data is available, rose 8.2 per cent week-on-week to a buoyant consolidated figure of 3.3 million viewers. The consolidated ratings (which include viewers who watched each episode within seven days of transmission) have been even healthier.
